Leslie carried her limp form back to her car, after the end of yet another beach party. It was mid-summer in the small town of Forks, and on rare nights like this a beach party in La Push wasn't uncommon. She was tired from dancing, everyone wanting to talk to her because she was the new kid. Leslie knew that the only reason she was here was because she was new, interesting and different. Forks was tiny compared to her native New York. She was so used to all the glamour, all the people and the diversity. But here in Forks, it was so plain and ordinary.
"Screw this," Leslie said, sweeping her shiny, midnight-black hair into a messy ponytail and slipping on the black Converse she had written all over. She jumped out of the truck and walked towards the woods.
"Why aren't you at the party?" Leslie jumped. She sat up on the rock that was conveniently placed in the middle of the forest. She looked at the source of the voice, and recognised it as one of the many people she had danced with: Jacob Black. She gracefully lept off the rock and ruined it at the last second by slipping on the wet leaves. Jacob rushed to make sure she didn't fall flat on her face.
"Sorry, trust me to fall down like that." Leslie laughed gently. Jacob smiled, helping her up.
"It's okay, Leslie." The girl started walking, and Jacob felt compelled to follow her. "You don't know where you're going, do you?" He laughed, knowing that he could easily get lost in these woods, and he didn't want to imagine what would happen to Leslie.
"No idea at all." Leslie stopped and faced Jacob. "Why did you come after me?" Confusion reflected from her crystal blue eyes.
"Because I was worried." He said honestly. The second he had noticed she'd left, he had the nagging urge to find her. He had tried her simple blue Ford Focus first, shocked that she wasn't there. He ran through the forest, the only thing in his head a vision of a vampire doing any harm to her.
"Why on Earth would you be worried about me?" Leslie giggled, putting herself down yet again. "I'm just the new kid, you barely know me!" Jacob then looked her in the eyes with all seriousness.
"I know this. I love you." With that he took her in his arms, kissing her on her pale lips, under the the stars. Leslie gave in to his warmth, wishing the moment would never end. Jacob pulled her in closer, before gasping for breath.
"I think I love you too. Now kiss me, Jacob. Kiss me."
